You’ve made the decision to go to the “Entertainment Capital of the World” for your wedding – (if you’ve chosen the Wee Kirk chapel route, welcome to stress-free planning!), but now, what are you going to do when you get there?
Many people think of the Las Vegas Strip, flashy lights, showgirls and casinos when they hear the word “Vegas.” But what many don’t know is that the city and surrounding area offer an enormous variety of things to do, see and explore while on a Honeymoon in Vegas.
What are you waiting for?
Check out this list and start making plans for your Honeymoon in Vegas!
1. Pack a picnic and spend time in the great outdoors
Check out the west’s beautiful scenery at surrounding parks and conservation areas. Known for it’s hot weather, Death Valley National Park is just a few hours northwest of Las Vegas, and gives visitors gorgeous views of the landscape. Plus, who doesn’t want to say they’ve survived Death Valley? Also nearby is Desert National Wildlife Refuge, which offers climbing and hiking for active honeymooners. The area is made up of four refuges and includes 1.5 million acres of beautiful views.
And here’s a perk: many surrounding nature areas are available for tours, led by naturalists and outdoors specialist. If you’re not a natural Bear Grylls, that option might be for you!
2. Spend an afternoon on the green
Just because it’s in a desert doesn’t mean there’s no grass in Vegas! Golfers and sports lovers can spend hours – even days – of a honeymoon in Vegas in the city’s large variety of recreational activity venues. Country Clubs, golf clubs, rock climbing, shooting complexes, tennis courts, even an adult playground where visitors can use construction vehicles like Tonka Toys are all available in Vegas. Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit, sneakers and extra sun tan lotion!
3. Don’t forget the souvenirs
At least you can say you are shopping for mom and dad’s souvenirs, but, ssshhh, we won’t tell anyone that it is mostly for you. Vegas offers unending shopping opportunities, which is great for bridal parties that have eloped without a suitcase… or couples who love shopping. New, old, antique and unique – you’ll find it all.
4. Hit the spa!
Every honeymoon should include some time to relax, so don’t forget to plan for some quality spa time. With an almost overwhelming number of incredible spas, couples won’t have trouble booking a duo massage or relaxing poolside with a cocktail. Don’t forget to mention when booking spas that you’re recently hitched – honeymooners who share the news may just find themselves with special packages or discounts to celebrate the occasion.
5. Ooh and ahh, and clap!
What kind of list would this be if it didn’t suggest you catch a World Class show like Penn & Teller, any of the Cirque offerings, an A list of entertainers or Clubs with the most revered DJ’s? Plus, Vegas honeymooners can gaze at beautiful botanical gardens, time travel and explore topics unknown in a variety of museums (like Aviation Museum, Titanic Artifact Museum, Nevada State Museum, or the Mob Museum(really!) and more – the list goes on!). Or, if theatre’s a shared love, actors at venues throughout the region will put on a show you can’t miss.
Planning what to do on your Vegas honeymoon isn’t hard with so many options. The tricky part? Making sure you have enough time to see it all on your Honeymoon in Vegas!
