Wee Kirk, the original Las Vegas Wedding Chapel
The Wee Kirk was built in 1925 and as you drive or walk along Las Vegas Boulevard, towards downtown Las Vegas, it is like taking a tour through times gone by.
The Exterior of the Wedding Chapel
You cannot miss the Wee Kirk’s charming façade trimmed in purple, to represent Heather, a lucky flower of Scotland. The crisp white seems to blend seamlessly with that purple trim, making the Wee Kirk stand out among the hotels and Casinos along Fremont Street and the plain office buildings of Downtown Las Vegas.
The manicured grounds and meticulously trimmed hedges that mark the patio and front sign form a perfect backdrop for a couple’s photos.
In fact, since the Wee Kirk is the only Las Vegas Wedding Chapel that sits on a corner of Las Vegas Boulevard “the Strip” it is the only chapel that a couple can take a photo and capture the iconic Strip street sign in the background.
Alongside the chapel is a secluded gazebo, hidden by climbing vines, white lattice fence and a deep rooted pine tree to offer afternoon shade.
The Interior of the Wedding Chapel
Entering the building, you will find a small but comfortable lobby, with plenty of room for some guests to quietly wait for the couple as they prepare for their wedding. The lobby also offers couples and their guest a chance to get away from the blistering heat of summer, if you are getting married in June, July or August.
The Chapel itself is not the largest in Las Vegas, comfortably seating 16 guests and providing standing room for another 15 or so. But it is charming, quaint and tastefully ornate for any type of wedding.
The natural off white walls and pews, will blend with any color choice that a bride and groom choose for their wedding. And the backdrop of the minister’s area is beautifully decorated with off-white flowers and lit candles to provide a serene atmosphere for the couple and all of their guest.
Of course we have a changing room for the bride and a couple of ladies to help with a restroom just to the side for any last minute makeup checks. And if the bride wants to not be seen by her “husband to be” until she begins down the aisle, the changing room is the perfect place to hide away, making him wait for that exhilarating moment when he first sees his bride to be.
Just off the bride’s changing room is our onsite professional photography studio, equipped to take those perfect portrait photos that create that lasting memory of your special day.
